IOST L2(opIOST) Benchmarks

Compared with other L2 solutions on Ethereum, such as OP Mainnet and Arbitrum, opIOST delivers significantly lower gas fees and a higher block gas limit. This architecture ensures transaction costs remain stable even during periods of increased network activity. Below we compare key parameters using Ethereum EIP-1559 as a reference point. Note that Arbitrum's gas mechanism is based on ArbOS and follows a different model.

While opIOST builds on the foundation of OP Stack, we've implemented several IOST-specific optimizations. These technical adaptations enhance performance for the unique requirements of IOST's ecosystem and applications.

Base Chain Comparison

opIOST is designed to provide a comprehensive scaling solution for network congestion in high-activity applications including DeFi, NFTs, RWA infrastructure, and gaming. By leveraging optimized OP Stack technology with custom improvements to transaction processing and validation, opIOST achieves a capacity of 120M gas per second—significantly higher than many base chains.

Block Time Analysis

Unlike opIOST and OP Mainnet which maintain fixed block times, Arbitrum features a variable block time dependent on transaction volume and gas consumption. Higher transaction counts and gas usage result in longer mining times. opIOST's consistent 2-second block time provides predictable transaction confirmations while balancing throughput with network stability.
